This is disgraceful!
Obviously, people are on edge following Donald Trump‘s surprise victory, but things got WAY too out of control for one man on Tuesday night.
Trump supporters reportedly attacked him outside a bar following the election results!
Chris Ball, a Calgary film producer, was in Santa Monica, CA on Tuesday watching the presidential election results come in when the atmosphere in the bar became a bit heated. As tempers flared, Ball recalled the night to Calgary Metro, saying:
“People started launching homophobic slurs at me from afar.”
The young filmmaker admits he shouted back a little:
“I mean, I kind of got into it, but I didn’t want to provoke them.”
What’s worse is Chris said people were even shouting things like:
“We got a new president, you f*cking f*ggots.”
Wow. Just wow.
While the hateful words were bad enough, when the young man was leaving the bar later that night, things got violent.
Ball says he was jumped by a group of men who smashed a bottle over his head:
“When I came to, I remember waking up and wiping the blood from my eyes. I called some friends, they picked me up and I went right to the hospital.”
At the hospital, Ball received five staples in his head — but don’t worry, he’s doing fine now. Physically anyway.
He posted these GRAPHIC pics of his injuries on Facebook:
Though police haven’t commented on the incident, Chris maintains a very grounded outlook on the whole night as he feels it wasn’t as much about politics as it was a hate issue. The film producer feels the incident occurred because everyone was on edge during election night, and the group of drunks just used Trump’s hateful ideas as a reason to get in a fight.
After the story broke, Ball took to FB to send out some thanks to those who supported him as he posted:
We’re just glad Chris is doing better and hopefully back in a less hateful environment!
