It’s not easy being a celebrity in the spotlight.
Little Mix has certainly learned this the hard way as they recently opened up about how difficult it is to be constantly scrutinized over their appearances. We can only imagine!
During a candid chat with Jonathan Ross, Jesly Nelson shared:
“The way that we feel about ourselves. Especially in the beginning, we did get a lot of stick [about the way we looked]… I think there’s a lot of pressure, especially for young girls, to look a certain way and when we went on The X Factor we didn’t look that great and we got a lot of stick for it and it was hard. Obviously we’d just been thrown into this whole experience so we’d never experienced anything like this and it was just a bit of a shock to the system.”
Poor things! Regardless, with their growing fame, the British beauties have certainly learned how to cope with the criticism which comes along with being famous. Miz Nelson continued:
“We still get it now but I think we’ve grown a thick skin now to it all. It’s hard especially when you’re so young and you’re not used to people just being able to comment on what you look like and being able to see it in front of your face.”
Thankfully, the foursome have leaned on each other to help them get through any and all dramas. Which is a good thing since the 25-year-old recently sparked rumors she had split from fiancé Jake Roche after being photographed without her engagement ring on.
On whether or not the ladies have plans to go solo, Nelson noted:
“If we were on our own, we’d be terrified. I just love that we – I know it sounds really cheesy – but I love how we support each other and bring out a confidence in each other that we never knew we had. I think if we were on our own, we’d absolutely sh*t ourselves.”
Awww! In regards to their tight bond, Leigh-Anne Pinnock added:
“When I split up with my ex, I was thinking ‘I have got my three best friends, what does it matter?’ I’m so lucky to have these girls and that’s how we feel all the time. We’re the best of friends. People don’t believe that we actually get on as well.”
“For a normal girl to go through something like that it’s hard. I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit [affected by it]. Obviously I didn’t say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it. I wasn’t going to not mention it├óΓé¼┬ª You’re in control at the end of the day and I briefly mentioned it, kind of said what happened but I would never get into detail because it is personal.”
Snaps all around ladies.
