In fact, the “Prediction Professor” who forecast the GOP nominee’s stunning win has a feeling the President-elect’s reign won’t be as “yuge” as he thinks!
Allan Lichtman, a political historian who teaches at the American University in Washington, has accurately called almost every election since 1984 — including this year’s political upset.
While the historian begrudgingly predicted Trump’s win in the midst of the scandal-ridden campaign season, he now believes the next POTUS will face impeachment!
Speaking to CNN‘s Erin Burnett, Lichtman said he uses his own system of 13 true or false statements to judge whether the incumbent party will retain the White House — but his bold prediction of a Trump impeachment is based on instinct.
He said on Erin Burnett OutFront:
“First of all, throughout his life he has played fast and loose with the law. He has run an illegal charity in New York state. He has made an illegal campaign contribution through that charity. He has used the charity to settle personal business debts. He faces a RICO lawsuit.”
And let’s not forget his other countless comic book villain-esque controversies…
To that point, Burnett questioned how Trump could be impeached when Republicans hold both the House and Senate — to which the professor responded:
“The Republicans are nervous about Donald Trump. He is a loose cannon. Nobody knows what he really believes or really where he stands. He can’t be controlled. The Republicans would vastly prefer to have Mike Pence, an absolutely predictable down-the-pipe conservative Republican.”
Either way, we’re in for one interesting presidency.
