Ryan Gosling Does NOT Understand His ‘Hey, Girl’ Internet Fame At All: ‘I’ve Never Said That!’

no title

Ryan Gosling is a weird kind of famous.

Sure, he’s an international movie star, in celebrated films like Crazy, Stupid, Love and the upcoming La La Land, but he’s also famous for things he’s never even done — like saying, “Hey Girl,” for instance!

As he told Variety, who wanted to know the actor’s feelings about those memes, it’s most confusing because:

“I’ve never said that.”

While chatting with the publication, the Hollywood hottie also addressed those Vine videos where he wouldn’t eat cereal. Ryan says the “strange” vids, by late creator Ryan McHenry, actually crossed over into his real life:

“Just walking down the street, people would say, ├óΓé¼╦£Why won’t you eat your cereal? Are you too good for cereal?'”

Of course, when McHenry passed away, Eva Mendes‘ main squeeze honored the other Ryan by FINALLY eating his cereal! But that doesn’t mean the blonde stud understands his Internet fame or the random new pics that pop up from his Mickey Mouse Club days:

“It’s a big surprise when they show up on the web.”

It’s not a surprise to us! We love us some lil Gosling!

But don’t worry, the 37-year-old isn’t upset at all, just a little perplexed as he admitted:

“I’m confused ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ by how confident I was. That level of confidence was unearned.”

Even Emma Stone, who has appeared in three flicks with Gosling, doesn’t get the craze as she told her La La Land costar:

“I don’t even understand. I mean, you’re great but why have you become this ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ why? Do you at least get paychecks on your coloring book?”

(He doesn’t, btw!)

Ryan then went as far as to compare his fame to another heartthrob:

“Do you remember when Fabio got hit in the face with a pigeon on the roller coaster and it broke his nose. Sometimes I feel like I’m the pigeon and the internet is Fabio’s face. Actually, I don’t know if I’m the pigeon or I’m Fabio’s face. Depends on the day, I guess.”

Regardless of how Ryan feels about all his online fame, we just hope those memes aren’t going anywhere! Besides, like a fine wine, Gosling only gets better with age!
