Leonard Cohen passed away in his sleep on November 7 after falling in the middle of the night, according to the legendary singer’s manager.
Three days later, the Hallelujah songwriter’s death was announced.
Issuing a statement to the star’s fans about his “sudden” passing, Leonard’s manager Robert Kory wrote on Wednesday:
“Leonard Cohen died during his sleep following a fall in the middle of the night on November 7th. The death was sudden, unexpected, and peaceful. He is survived by his children Adam and Lorca, and his three grandchildren Cassius (Adam’s son), and Viva and Lyon (Lorca’s daughter and son).”
These are the first details into the 82-year-old’s death as no cause was revealed last week.
The Canadian artist was laid to rest in Montreal the same day his passing was made public. Cohen’s son Adam shared a post to Facebook about the burial:
“My sister and I just buried my father in Montreal. With only immediate family and a few lifelong friends present, he was lowered into the ground in an unadorned pine box, next to his mother and father. Exactly as he’d asked.”
Rest in peace, Leonard.
