John Mayer is back, baby!
As you know, the 39-year-old returned to the scene on Thursday by dropping his first single in three years, Love On The Weekend. We LOVES it!
Taking part in a Facebook Live Q&A with fans in honor of the release, the Gravity singer opened up about his new album titled The Search for Everything, set to be released in 2017, and the tour that will follow.
When asked how it makes him feel that he’s inspired so many people to pick up a guitar, Katy Perry‘s ex said he finds it flattering to see so many photos and videos of fans with the instrument when he searches his name on Instagram.
Yep, that’s right! John searches his name on the ‘gram!
But not in a boastful way — he explains:
“I get the most flattered and moved when I look at Instagram hashtags. The only searching of myself I do online is Instagram hashtags, because I feel like that’s a kinder, gentler Internet.”
Adding the social media app is a great way to connect with his audience:
“I’m much more interested in reaching the next generation than I am reaching my peers.”
That makes sense!
The Connecticut native went on to offer some details about his highly-anticipated album:
“There’s a lot of songs for this record. I’ll put it this way, not to be overly cryptic├óΓé¼┬ªbut there are more songs that can fit in your standard sized album. It’s more music than I’ve ever put out in any one year.”
Yas! We cannot wait!
