Bad news for Dennis Rodman!
On Monday, it was revealed that the former basketball star had officially been charged with a hit and run following a wrong-way related crash on the Interstate 5 freeway back in July. Oh man!
According to the Associated Press, Dennis’ SUV was driving north in a SOUTHBOUND carpool lane at 12:30 a.m. on July 20. Unfortunately, this directional mistake caused a different car to crash into a dividing wall while it was trying to swerve and avoid hitting Rodman’s vehicle.
To make matters worse, it’s said the retired NBA stud has also been charged with driving without a valid license and across a dividing section — oh, and he is also in hot water for supposedly giving the cops false information. Oof!
Although this case doesn’t necessarily look good for Rodman, the American athlete’s lawyer Paul Meyer is defending that this incident occurred because of a poorly signed exit ramp. Meyer also noted that his client not only corrected the driving mishap, but the two vehicles never actually collided into each other. Apparently, at the time of the accident, Dennis also stopped and spoke with the passengers in the other car!
Here’s hoping this defense will help Rodman stay out of trouble, especially since he’s currently facing a two year prison sentence if convicted. Eek!
