Kathy Griffin is well aware not everyone is a fan of her comedy├óΓé¼┬ª especially the celebrities she’s notoriously made fun of!
But after endless encounters with Hollywood’s elite over the years, the 56-year-old has revealed some celebs have been just downright MEAN to her face!
In her new book Kathy Griffin’s Celebrity Run-Ins, the Emmy-winner recounts various moments she’s had with over 125 stars, and not all of them are as pleasant as you’d expect!
One of the most shocking revelations from Griffin’s latest expos├â┬⌐ is that Jon Hamm might not be super charming 100% of the time — at least not when rubbing elbows with a comedy veteran.
The comedianne writes of the Mad Men star:
“You’ll never convince me to like Jon Hamm. The vibe I’ve always gotten from him is cold and somewhat disrespectful ├óΓé¼┬ª toward me. I’m suggesting he’s one of these hot guys who’s mildly funny but actually thinks he’s comedian-level funny.”
In her book, Griffin sets the scene at a dinner party hosted by legendary talent agent Sue Mengers, where she was seated next to a hammy drunken mess. She continued:
“So when Hammy showed up, too, inside I thought, oh great. He even said to me, ├óΓé¼╦£What are you doing here?’ I said, ├óΓé¼╦£I earned my seat at the table. What are you doing here?'”
Hamm allegedly continued to throw back drinks, and later hurled boozy insults at Griffin when she was deep in conversation with Jack Nicholson:
“Hammy picks that moment ├óΓé¼┬ª to start whispering boozy yammering into my ear. First it was, ├óΓé¼╦£You know your Emmy isn’t a real Emmy.’ I let that one go, but then he whispered, ├óΓé¼╦£You’re so o-o-o-old.'”
Guilty of delivering burns of that sort herself, Griffin insists she wasn’t exactly upset by the insult, but rather the drunken interruption while she was chatting with one of the biggest Hollywood legends of all time.
“Look, I’ve been told I’m old and not funny by a lot of guys ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ a lot of hot guys, too ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ but not when I’m in an intimate conversation space with frickin’ Jack Nicholson, an opportunity I figured I’d never get again; that’s the real reason I can’t stand Hammy. The double whammy of cruel but not playful comments and the horrible timing. Again, he’s not a comedian, folks. Hopefully done with the drink, but probably still Don Draper-y.”
Back in 2005, the duo cohosted a charity event for uBid.com, and the That ‘70s Show actor refused to speak to her the entire time! She remembered:
“At least three separate times, we were standing in the wings, waiting to go out and present, and I’d say something like, ├óΓé¼╦£Hey, what if, when we go out, we do this ├óΓé¼┬ª ,’ and suggest something, and he’d just ignore me. If he said five words to me the whole day, I’d be surprised. It was bizarre and rude and made me feel as if he thought I was beneath him, someone not worth talking to in the slightest.”
Griffin would later have two more run ins with Kutcher — once at a Mexican restaurant and another time at a party while she was talking to P. Diddy. She explained:
“Kutcher stepped directly in front of me and started talking to Diddy as if I wasn’t even there. So that’s three incidents. Do I loathe him? No. He’s just someone who’s made it perfectly clear to me that I have absolutely nothing to offer him during his precious time on earth.”
Ouch! That’s Hollywood for you?
These encounters do seem pretty rough, but we have a feeling through this very detailed book, Kathy once again got the last laugh!
