Kanye West still hasn’t gotten over his mother’s death.
And, tragically, this reality served as one of the main triggers for the Famous rapper’s recent breakdown. So sad!
As you may recall, Donda West passed away on November 10, 2007, a day after receiving several cosmetic surgeries. The A-lister’s momma’s funeral didn’t take place until November 20. In fact, the All Day artist’s cancelled show at The Forum in El Lay just happened to fall on the anniversary of Miz West’s funeral. Dang.
So it can’t be a coincidence that ‘Ye called off the rest of his Saint Pablo tour shortly after this anniversary. According to TMZ, West never properly dealt with the passing of his mother and has always struggled around this time of year. In case you forgot, Kanye’s controversial face off against Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs was fueled by his immense grief over Donda’s death.
So after all of these years, why did Kanye break down in 2016? Reportedly, Yeezus hasn’t been handling his stress very well these last few months — and about a week before his hospitalization, the rapper started to unravel. Not to mention, in addition to struggling with the anniversary of his mom’s passing, the multi-talented celeb was struggling with a lack of sleep, the pressures of touring, business woes, and his wife Kim Kardashian West‘s robbery.
Sounds like the reminder of Donda’s death was simply the straw that broke West. Poor guy.
We honestly hope Kanye is taking all the time he needs to deal with his various issues. Stay strong, man!
