You know your country is in trouble when its basketball stars have stronger principles than its politicians.
According to ESPN, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James and a few of his teammates are boycotting Donald Trump‘s New York City hotels following the surprising election results on November 8. The news comes on the heels of many celebs and concerned citizens denouncing the Trump family brand.
Per the report, the Cavaliers’ management had scheduled the team to stay in Trump Soho in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday night.
While the president-elect technically doesn’t own Trump Soho, he lent his name as a part of a licensing deal. This essentially means Donald still reaps profits from the establishment.
Following LeBron’s refusal to stay in the failed businessman’s hotel, the Cavs’ manager David Griffin revealed he had made other arrangements for the “group that wants to be elsewhere”.
Well, we’re glad Griffin listened to the concerns of his players. It sets a nice precedent for other teams!
So, what do YOU think of the athlete’s boycott?
