Leonardo DiCaprio Met With Donald Trump To Discuss Green Jobs — How Did The President-Elect Respond?

Donald Trump made it clear protecting the environment was none of his concern when he claimed global warming was a hoax perpetuated by China.

But if anyone is going to get the President-elect to take climate change seriously, it’s the Wolf of Wall Street!

According to reports, Leonardo DiCaprio and the head of his foundation met with Trump on Wednesday to discuss how clean jobs centered on preserving the environment can actually boost the economy.

Terry Tamminen, CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, confirmed the meeting at Trump Tower in a statement to The Associated Press.

Tamminen said the duo gave a presentation to the incoming POTUS, Ivanka Trump, and other members of his team on how clean, renewable energy could create millions of jobs.

The statement said:

“Today, we presented the President-elect and his advisors with a framework ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure. Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation.”

The Oscar winner has been one of the most outspoken advocates of fighting climate change and preserving the environment, issues addressed in his recent documentary Before the Flood.

The actor previously met with Ivanka — who is reportedly planning to make climate change one of her “signature issues” — and gave her a copy of his film.

Insiders say Leo also gave the President-elect a copy of the doc during their 90-minute meeting. According to Tamminen, Trump was receptive and promised to watch it, even suggesting they meet again next month.

If Trump is going to start backpedaling on all of his campaign promises, this is a great place to start — we just hope creating clean energy jobs doesn’t conflict with any of his business interests!
