It’s not like Bey didn’t try either as an insider with knowledge of the nomination process revealed the 35-year-old DID submit the song for the country category!
The source also dished that the country music committee rejected the song, keeping it from being eligible for best country song and best country solo performance.
While there are those who don’t believe the Queen should have received a nod for Lessons, the song does dive into the songstress’ Southern music roots as she sings about lessons she learned from her father and former manager.
The track also includes horns, acoustic guitar, hand claps, and even references the Bible, the Second Amendment, and shooting guns. Sounds like all the ingredients of a country song to us! LOLz!
“People that criticize can kiss my ass. That’s what I say. I can’t believe people that don’t contribute to music that criticize music, it just blows my mind and Beyonc├â┬⌐ ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ tell them to kiss that ass, is what I would do.”
Blake’s fellow country star Karen Fairchild stuck up for Beyonc├â┬⌐ too, saying:
“[Beyonc├â┬⌐] has some stories to tell ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ that’s clear on Lemonade. And that’s what makes country music great.”
Though we’re sure some members of the BeyHive are still upset, Beyonc├â┬⌐ has NINE other categories she can win (including the surprising rock category for Don’t Hurt Yourself), and her 62 career nominations makes her the most-nominated woman in Grammy history.
Sure, the country award would have been a nice cherry on top, but Bey’s got one helluva Grammy sundae to look forward to!
What are you thoughts on Daddy Lessons not being nominated?
