You can always count on President Barack Obama to tell it like it is.
Unsurprisingly, the conversation might be one of Obama’s most candid conversations yet!
While there were a TON of topics to discuss, the President honed in on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, the Republicans’ obsession with Hillary Clinton‘s emails, and his experiences with racism. POTUS even touched on Donald Trump‘s refusal to sit for intelligence briefings, which couldn’t come at a better time considering the President-elect just found time to meet with Kanye West.
According to Barack, he says Americans shouldn’t be surprised by Russia’s hacking considering it had been widely reported throughout the election season.
As for what we should be shocked by, Obama cited our misguided focus on Hil’s emails, explaining:
“None of this should be a big surprise. What is it about the state of our democracy where the leaks of what were frankly not very interesting emails, that didn’t have any explosive information in them, ended up being an obsession? And the fact that the Russians were doing this was not an obsession?”
Good point! It’s concerning how we’re more eager to conduct a witch hunt rather than a much needed review of our nation’s security.
Moving on to Drumpf’s controversial decision to blow off intelligence briefings, the President mused:
“The president-elect may say one thing and do another once he’s here, because the truth of the matter is that it’s a big, complicated world. It doesn’t matter how smart you are, you have to have the best information possible to make the best decisions possible.”
Sounds about right.
But wait, that’s not all!
