What an amazing win for the movement to close the gender wage gap!
On Wednesday, Emmy Rossum took to Twitter to announce she WILL be returning for Shameless for its eighth season. The great news comes on the heels of tense contract negotiations between Emmy and Showtime.
As some outlets reported, Ms. Rossum refused to renew her contract unless she was given MORE money than her costar William H Macy. Apparently the actress had been getting less than Macy for YEARS, even though she’s one of the show’s leads.
Despite Showtime’s offer of equal pay, Emmy’s team apparently convinced the network to give her MORE cash to make up for the years of economic disparity.

How amazing! Hopefully win inspires other women in Hollywood to take a stand.
In case you were wondering, Macy was on the 30-year-old’s side the entire time. On Tuesday, the actor told TMZ:
“It’s about f*cking time, don’t you think? She works as hard as I do. She deserves everything. The only thing I’ve got over Emmy Rossum is I’m better looking.”
Ha! We’re so glad Macy is supportive. And modest…
So, are YOU excited to see Emmy return to Shameless?
