Well we could’ve called this one.
Late on Sunday evening, it was announced that Camila Cabello is officially splitting from Fifth Harmony. Merp!
In case you’re having trouble reading the image (above), the statement noted:
“After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.”
Ice cold! Of course, the remaining
5H 4H ladies — including Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke Hernandez, and Dinah Jane Hansen — tried to spin this news into a grateful note about their fans as they penned:
“You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you’ve supported us, you’ve rejoiced and cried with us, you’ve grown with us, and with your love and support we will continue on. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors. We are excited for our future, and we can’t wait for what the new year brings.”
If history has taught us anything, *cough* One Direction *cough*, it won’t be long before these four start signing solo deals and calling it quits on the band all together. Still, we can’t really blame Camila for wanting to get a head start on her solo career — just look at Zayn Malik.
Also, we can’t be the only ones who remember those pesky feud rumors. Right?
The crazy thing about this split news is it dropped mere HOURS after the 19-year-old performed alongside the other members of 5H at the Y100‘s Jingle Ball 2016 in Sunrise, Florida. Camila then took the stage with Machine Gun Kelly to perform their hit Bad Things.
While Camila’s departure further proves 2016 is a garbage fire of a year, we are excited to see what the X Factor alum gets up to in 2017!
