Tom Hanks knows how to treat his fans!
A Toronto woman, named Zena Gopal, made a wager with a pal that she could get a headshot from a celebrity faster than her friend — and boy did she get more than she asked for! The sleuthing savvy fan selected the Toy Story star as her celeb of choice after she tracked how fast Tom answered his fan mail.
Miz Gopal sent a photo of herself along with a letter asking the A-lister to take a selfie of himself while holding her image. Three weeks later, Zena got her reply. Not only did the Sully actor agree to her odd request, but the beloved artist sent along a lengthy note which touched on topics Gopal had mentioned in her own message.
As seen in the image (below), the 60-year-old responded:
“Does this count as a head shot? Sorry for the beard, but I have some shooting coming up and I must have whiskers. And, my headshot is not all that current, taken long ago and I’d come off vain sending along.”
HIGHlarious! He continued:
“Toronto, huh? Damn fine town. Growing fast, all those condo towers down by the lake. Nice views, I guess. I have not been there since one of the Film Festival dates sometime back.
Christmas just days away. Are you ready?
For the record, I still find myself humming some of the music from That Thing You Do! like you. I was always partial to the songs Dance With Me Tonight and Drive Faster. This Polaroid has been developing as I have been typing. The thing is scary…
Throw deep, always.
Gopal was “totally floored” to see that the industry vet actually responded to her. She told the CBC:
“It made me laugh, it really made my day. It was just really cool to see that he reads his fan mail.”
Remind us to shoot Tom some fan mail. LOLz!
No, but really, this was so cool of Hanks to do. Snaps, man!
