At least the wheels of justice have been set in motion.

As we previously reported, Step Up actress and yoga instructor Tricia Lynn McCauley was found dead in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday following an extensive search after she went missing on Christmas.

While authorities suspected foul play in the case due to Tricia missing a holiday party as well as a flight back home, their fears were confirmed when they located her body and discovered a stranger had been driving her car around town.

According to reports, authorities have charged 29-year-old Adrian Johnson with first degree murder following a brief investigation. Cops can confirm McCauley died of asphyxia AKA strangulation.

In a statement to the press, a police officer revealed:

“The cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to ligature strangulation with blunt force trauma and the manner of death to be homicide.”

Though police haven’t nailed down a motive yet, they suspect it was a carjacking gone terribly wrong. The theory makes sense considering Adrian had an extensive history of robbing stores around the city — in fact, his most recent theft occurred on Monday.

What’s especially frustrating is Johnson should have had a GPS tracking device on him at the time of the murder. Apparently the criminal was supposed to be outfitted with the device following a December 17 robbery. When Adrian didn’t show up to receive the tracker, an arrest warrant was fatefully not issued… which is simply MIND BOGGLING.

Authorities also believe the perp was driving around with Tricia’s body for hours.

We’ll keep you updated as we receive more info on this tragedy.
