We still can’t believe she’s gone!
Following the star’s passing, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Fisher was planning a sequel to her 2006 show that debuted at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, which later went on to Broadway!
EW learned the actress, director Josh Ravetch, and the playhouse had all agreed to move forward with the project and it was going to be called Wishful Drinking Strikes Back: From Star Wars to, uh, Star Wars! Talk about a PERFECT title!
What’s even more heartbreaking about this is a spokesperson for the playhouse said that Fisher and the Geffen Playhouse made a “handshake deal” on December 22 — only a day before her heart attack!
The original production was a collection of personal and professional stories from the actress that detailed Carrie’s ups and downs throughout her life. The production was so successful that it was even adapted into a book and later an HBO documentary!
Following the news of the Star Wars actress’ death, Geffen Playhouse released a statement saying:
“All of us at the Geffen Playhouse are devastated by the news of the passing of our dear friend and alum, Carrie Fisher. She was a wickedly funny force of nature and it was a privilege and a pleasure to have her on our stage. We send our love to her family and friends as we all mourn this tremendous loss.”
