It’s the end of an end of an era!
Back in July, the cast taped what they believed to be the third season finale of the show. However, after filming, costar Uriah Shelton started cancellation speculation thanks to an Instagram post saying goodbye to the cast — although that could have been written off due to his recurring status.
Well, Boy Meets World‘s Rider Strong — who plays (Uncle) Shawn Hunter on both shows — did Uncle Josh one better on the Christmas Eve episode of his podcast, Literary Disco.
While discussing the season/series finale with cohosts Julia Pistell and Todd Goldberg, Rider effectively put the final nail in GMW‘s coffin, saying:
“We finished the third season of Girl Meets World ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ my brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and the show ended.”
Blunt, but effective.
As if that weren’t proof enough, it’s also being reported that the upcoming January 20 episode is entitled “Girl Meets Goodbye”… so, yeah.
With that said, Disney hasn’t officially cancelled the show just yet — so a fourth season is still possible! (Although, unlikely.)
But at least there are still a few new episodes to catch when Girl Meets World returns Friday, January 6 on Disney Channel!
The (supposed) series finale will air January 20.
