Countless celebrities have been paying tribute to Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher after the mother-daughter duo tragically passed away within a day of each other earlier this week.

And while the beloved icons have touched the lives of many over the years, it’s always much more heartbreaking to hear from those who actually knew the late legends.

Neil Patrick Harris and Oscar Isaac both took to social media to mourn Fisher and Reynolds with emotional posts, expressing their admiration for the actresses they had previously worked with.

Isaac, who starred alongside the Star Wars icon in 2015’s The Force Awakens, remembered the 60-year-old for her sharp wit in poignant Facebook posts — in which he shared a photo of Fisher and Mark Hamill on set.

The 39-year-old also shared a photo of Fisher’s beloved dog Gary, writing:

“Whenever you and your mommy arrived all the lights shined brighter.”

On Thursday, NPH took to Twitter to pay tribute to Reynolds, his one-time onscreen grandma in the 1998 CBS movie The Christmas Wish, remembering the Hollywood legend as “hilarious, smart, bawdy, kind, classy,” writing:

It’s so sad losing these two unforgettable icons — we can only imagine how hard it must be for those who knew them.
