Well this could’ve ended badly!
According to a Wednesday report from The Times, Queen Elizabeth II was almost shot by one of her own guards while out for an early morning stroll. So scary!
Reportedly, the British monarch was having trouble sleeping one night and around 3 a.m. decided to take a stroll through the Buckingham Palace grounds. It’s said one guard shouted out into the darkness as he saw only a dark figure and thought it might be an intruder. Obviously, there was no intruder as it was just Prince William‘s grandmother. Whoops!
While nothing tragic occurred, the guard did admit to her majesty that he almost fired his weapon. Eek.
The Queen seemed unbothered by the almost shooting, as it’s said she quipped:
“Next time I’ll ring through beforehand so you don’t have to shoot me.”
YASSSS. Elizabeth’s got jokes!
Here’s hoping the Windsor matriarch gets her feisty spirit back as she’s been pretty MIA from her royal duties since coming down with a heavy cold. As you may recall, Elizabeth II skipped out on going to church on both Christmas Day AND New Year’s Day due to her health. She’s currently recuperating at her Sandringham estate.
Thankfully, reports say Prince Charles‘ mother is up and about as well as focusing on her red boxes full of official papers. Phew.
