Now this would be inneresting

Following Megyn Kelly‘s departure from Fox News to NBC earlier this week, a Thursday report from the New York Post suggested she’s eventually headed for The Today Show.

While the conservative seems to be a bold choice to replace the show’s uncontroversial cohost Savannah Guthrie, sources claim the network has a grand scheme to shake things up. Execs are allegedly using Savannah’s current maternity leave status as way to eventually push her out of the coveted role.

An insider explained:

“There is a rumor on set that Megyn would eventually get the lead anchor role on ├óΓé¼╦£Today,’ pushing Savannah out.”

Ha! We’d love to see the look on Matt Lauer‘s face if this ever comes to fruition… though it’s doubtful considering Guthrie is a beloved member of the NBC family.

Not to mention, Meg might be an awkward fit for the show considering it’s not exactly a place for dogged reporting. We’re not sure how Kelly would do in a softball type of role. (Whereas Katie Couric kills it in both arenas!)

Following the allegations, a “high-level source” at NBC slammed the report, saying:

“We just signed Savannah to a massive deal that is longer than Megyn’s. A lead anchor role at ├óΓé¼╦£Today’ isn’t part of the conversation for Megyn. The goal was simply to get someone of Megyn’s talent and caliber through the door at NBC. We have not made a decision on her daytime slot. It is being discussed.”

A Today Show rep went on to add:

“No, Megyn is not being ├óΓé¼╦£groomed’; the senior leadership of NBC News expects to be long retired and sleeping in while Savannah is still rising early and anchoring ├óΓé¼╦£Today.'”

Well, there ya have it! It sounds like Savannah’s job is safe for now.

So, do YOU think Megyn would do well at The Today Show?
