Good news, everyone!
Sorry, wrong show… but the sentiment remains: There may be hope for a Girl Meets World renewal after all!
Sure, there are still two episodes of the Sabrina Carpenter and Rowan Blanchard sitcom left — an episode TONIGHT as well as next week’s series (?) finale — but creator Michael Jacobs seems pretty optimistic about eventually getting even more episodes!
In fact, he’s apparently already in talks with Netflix for a potential Season 4 revival!!!
“There are talks underway, but we’re at the very very beginning stages. And I can tell you it’s because of the audience’s reaction to the cancelation that there is interest in other places. For anyone in show business, if you ask them why they’re doing something and they say they’re doing it for themselves, they won’t sustain long. Those that answer ‘We’re doing it for the audience’ and mean it, they sustain.”
We guess the fans’ paper airplane protest actually worked!
Plus, this wouldn’t be the first time Netflix has saved a prematurely scrapped series — family friendly franchises like Fuller House, Gilmore Girls, and Degrassi have all found second chances over on the streaming service.
Interestingly, the closest analogue to GMW would be the very different Longmire, which Netflix saved for three more seasons after it was canceled by A&E. The rural mystery show also had decent ratings and critical reception but failed to capture the demo advertisers were looking for on the network.
Since Netflix has no commercials, they only care about audience engagement. So it’s a good fit.
Do U think Girl Meets World could still see Season 4 after all??
