Noor Salman is maintaining her innocence.

On Monday, the wife of Orlando nightclub gunman Omar Mateen was arrested by the FBI for her connection to the worst mass shooting in history.

The mother-of-one is charged with aiding and abetting Mateen’s provision of “material support or resources” to the terrorist group ISIS.

She is also being charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly misleading federal agents who questioned her about the attack.

After the charges against her were read aloud in court on Tuesday, Salman pleaded not guilty through her public defender John Paul Richmond.

U.S. Attorney officials believe Salman knew ahead of time Mateen “was going to conduct the attack.” However, her defense team insisted she “had no foreknowledge” of her husband’s fatal actions.

Salman’s other attorney Linda Moreno said in a statement:

“Noor has told her story of abuse at his hands. We believe it is misguided and wrong to prosecute her and that it dishonors the memories of the victims to punish an innocent person.”

Noor’s uncle Al Salman was also adamant that she was in the dark about Mateen’s plan, calling his niece a “very simple person” who is “not that smart.”

Salman will remain in custody in California until her next scheduled hearing on February 1 – but is expected to be extradited to Florida, where the indictment was filed.
