Republicans Stand Up To Donald Trump Over Immigration Ban — And Here’s How Poorly He Handled It!

President Donald Trump‘s horrific immigrant ban has already been condemned by Democrats and other liberal critics.

But now, the GOP has broken its silence over the controversial order on Capitol Hill — and thankfully, they’re just as mortified as we are.

Republican Senators John McCain (Arizona) and Lindsey Graham (South Carolina) denounced the orange president’s ban on travel to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries, fearing the executive order “may do more to help terrorist recruitment than improve our security.”

The two Senators issued a joint statement on Sunday, saying:

“Our government has a responsibility to defend our borders, but we must do so in a way that makes us safer and upholds all that is decent and exceptional about our nation├óΓé¼┬ª we fear this executive order will become a self-inflicted wound in the fight against terrorism.”

Basically, they’re agreeing with the thousands of protesters and millions of perplexed citizens saying that Donny already fucked up BIG TIME!

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman (and fellow Republican) Bob Corker agreed, saying Drumpf’s administration should immediately make revisions to the executive order. He said in a statement on Sunday:

“We all share a desire to protect the American people, but this executive order has been poorly implemented, especially with respect to green card holders. The administration should immediately make appropriate revisions, and it is my hope that following a thorough review and implementation of security enhancements that many of these programs will be improved and reinstated.”

Well, at least the Senate is grounded with some sanity.

Unsurprisingly, POTUS wasn’t a fan of the conservatives’ criticism — and issued a political clap back on Twitter, writing:

LOL, we had no idea the Senators were always trying to start World War III — gotta love those alternative facts!

But the bronzed businessman didn’t stop there; Trump also issued a statement defending his new order, saying:

“We will continue to show compassion to those fleeing oppression, but we will do while protecting our own citizens and voters. This is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting. This is not about religion — this is about terror and keeping our country safe.”

Um, how can it not be about religion when Trump himself said the ban would prioritize Christian Refugees?

Of course, everyone wants to be safe from terrorist threats, but this ban is clearly NOT thought out at all. Hopefully, this means the Senate will do all it can to block this order.
