Oh, Matthew, nooooo.
Hollywood’s best and brightest haven’t been shy about criticizing President Donald Trump, as many of have joined in on the recent Women’s Marches and anti-immigration ban protests. However, don’t expect to see Matthew McConaughey joining up with the demonstrators as he thinks it’s time we “embrace” Drumpf. Ugh.
While promoting his new movie Gold on British Channel FI, the interviewer asked the A-lister if it was time Tinseltown’s elite gave the Commander-in-Chief “a break.” Instead of dodging the question, Matthew addressed the issue head on as he noted:
“Well, they don’t have a choice now, he’s our president. And it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an inauguration and time that we’ve ever had. At the same time, it’s time for us to embrace, shake hands with this fact, and be constructive with him over the next four years.”
Hmmmm, we’re not sure we agree with you on that, bud. He continued:
“So, even those who most strongly may disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ which is another thing, we’ll see what he does compared to what he had said ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be. Because he’s our president for the next four years. At least.”
It’s unclear when this interview took place, but we have a feeling it may’ve happened before Trump’s immigration ban took effect as his wife Camila Alves is an immigrant.
What do YOU think? Do you agree with Matthew??
