OMG, are they gonna throw an #AntiNerdProm!?
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is typically the most glamorous night of the year for politicians.
But given Donald Trump‘s contentious relationship with the media, it’s no surprise some outlets are choosing to bow out of this year’s celebration.
Magazine spokesperson Natalie Raabe confirmed The New Yorker will cancel its annual kickoff party. It was also announced that Vanity Fair will not co-sponsor the after-party, which is usually the hottest shindig in town.
Graydon Carter, Vanity Fair editor and vocal Trump opposer, will be spending the weekend fishing instead of hosting the star-studded bash.
When asked why he was skipping out on the dinner, Carter simply said:
Despite the President’s ongoing beef with the media, facts, and pretty much all of reality, the annual dinner will still go on as planned — though it has not been announced who will host the event, or if Trump would even show up!
Under past presidents like Barack Obama, the so-called “nerd prom” became a who’s-who of the government and Hollywood, allowing comedians to roast the politicians with timely political satire.
Seeing that Trump legitimately can’t handle being poked fun at, we wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t show up at all!
Either way, it’s gotta be killing Drumpf that some of the cool outlets are already dropping out of his event.
