Acting has not only given Jemima Kirke fame, but also insight into her personal life.
As you might’ve heard by now, the Girls star and her husband Michael Mosberg split this past summer after being married for seven years. The estranged couple have two children together, a six-year-old daughter Rafaella Israel, and four-year-old son, Memphis.
In a new interview with ES Magazine, the 31-year-old attributes her decision to end her longtime relationship to her profession.
After a period of admittedly feeling “self-destructive,” Miz Kirke took some time for honest reflection — a tool she learned from her craft:
“I got divorced and I attribute that to acting. And just asking myself, ├óΓé¼╦£Is this really me?’ So much of my life has been about reaction, just following the flow rather than making a strong choice.”
She went on:
“In acting you are always asking yourself why you do things, why you make the choices you make. Everything means something. And so then you start looking at your own life in that way. I’ve learned a lot more about myself and started to figure out what I really want.”
Gotta do you what you gotta do, we guess!
