This is big!!!
The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl last week, and one of the rewards of doing that is a trip to the White House to visit the President, but now, at least six players will NOT be going to Washington later this year for the ceremony!!
We’ve been reporting how defensive back Devin McCourty and tight end Martellus Bennett aren’t going, but now we can confirm that FOUR MORE Patriots players are also boycotting the event: running back LeGarrette Blount, defensive end Chris Long, defensive tackle Alan Branch, and linebacker Dont’a Hightower.
And while McCourty and Bennett specifically called out Donald Trump as the reason they wouldn’t be going to the White House for the ceremony, the other players have cited other reasons — including Hightower, who told ESPN that he’s “been there, done that” — as their reasons for not going.
For Blount, who was more blunt, the reason was pretty cut and dry in an interview:
“I will NOT be going to the White House. I don’t feel welcome in that house. I’ll leave it at that.”
No public reaction yet from Trump or the White House staff, but with six guys already out and perhaps more coming… this could be a HUGE story in another few weeks!!
What do U think, Perezcious readers?? Let us know your thoughts about the boycott in the comments (below)!!!
