The legendary Jarreau was a seven-time Grammy winner and no stranger to the award show — and the upper echelons of the music business — across his five-decade long career in the industry.

A message on Jarreau’s website says he passed away in the hospital — this coming after him recently announcing he was going to retire from music amid health problems after being hospitalized recently in Los Angeles.

According to his son, though, Jarreau was still singing Moonlighting to one of his nurses just last week. A true performer through it all.

So sad to lose a legend like this.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones.
