A History Of Hollywood Whitewashing!

no title

The practice of casting white actors in racially diverse roles has a long and troubling history in Hollywood.

Sometimes talented actors have thought they could play any role (looking at you, Laurence Olivier and Meryl Streep). In other cases, studios have altered roles to accommodate bigger stars (sorry, Scarlett Johansson).

In the VERY worst cases, performers have been made up to play racial stereotypes. Mickey Rooney‘s role, for instance, makes the Audrey Hepburn classic Breakfast At Tiffany’s unwatchable.
