A lot can change in a year!
At 2016’s Conservative Political Action Conference, Republicans were rallying against Donald Trump — so much that he ended up canceling his appearance.
Yet here we are one year (and a carnival fire of an election) later, with conservatives eating up the president’s same sick tune they were condemning him for 12 months ago!
Soaking up the glory of speaking in front of his “friends,” Trump performed all his greatest hits during the speech — including reminiscing about the election, bragging about the crowd size, and calling the media “the enemy of the people.”
After boasting about his victory in the Republican primaries, Trump blasted Hillary Clinton‘s “basket of deplorables” comment regarding some of his supporters.
And in an alarming response, the CPAC crowd responded by chanting “lock her up!” — making us to wonder where all the sane-minded conservatives went to.
Of course, that was only one of the many cringeworthy parts of Trump’s speech. See some more low-lights (below)!
Trump either made a really funny joke or the most hypocritical statement ever uttered by a politician when he said “I love the First Amendment, nobody loves it better than me,” right before saying fake news — a.k.a. the media — is “the enemy of the people”:
Does he not understand the First Amendment also means freedom of the press? Can someone show him the constitution?
Doubling down on his media bashing, POTUS said journalists should no longer use “sources” but instead reveal who they got their information from (so he could lock them up, presumably):
Donald Trump at CPAC today: “No more sources. They shouldn’t use sources, they should put the name of the person.”
Cool, Donny — why don’t you take the lead on that?
As required by his ego, Drumpf also claimed that supporters were lining up “six blocks” to hear him speak, saying:
“There are lines that go back six blocks. I tell you that because you won’t read about it.”
Well, apparently we won’t read about it because it didn’t happen. According to Jezebel‘s Gabrielle Bluestone, here’s what the “lines” looked like outside the building:
The room got tense when a protestor infiltrated the conservative safe space — and was swiftly removed:
But liberals weren’t the only surprise in the crowd. White House staffers also had to confiscate mini Russian flags that were being waved by members of the audience:

The flags, which featured Russia’s national colors emblazoned with the name of Vladimir Putin‘s BFF, were reportedly handed out to unwitting college kids outside and quickly removed.
It was unclear whether or not this was in support or protest of the prez.
