Federal Agents Remove Critically Ill Salvadoran Woman Awaiting Emergency Surgery From Hospital To Detention Center

Donald Trump

Sara Beltran-Hernandez, a 26-year-old mother-of-two, was awaiting an emergency surgery for a brain tumor this week — but was instead forcibly moved by federal agents from the hospital to a detention center following Donald Trump‘s immigration ban.

A little background: Beltran-Hernandez was seeking asylum in the United States as a victim of domestic abuse in El Salvador back in November 2015 when she was picked up by immigration agents on her way to New York to visit her mother.

She’s been detained in Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas ever since — until she was hospitalized in Fort Worth after a doctor discovered the brain tumor.

Just before her scheduled emergency surgery this weekend, the critically ill woman was bound by her hands and feet and taken back to the Alvarado detention facility.

Texas lawyer Chris Hamilton, who tried but was unable to visit Sara, said:

“It is heartbreaking and inhumane. This is unacceptable under our Constitution, and unacceptable from a standpoint of basic human rights. This woman is critically ill and in severe pain.”

Lorena Massoni, a member of Sara’s legal team, said they’re working on an appeal to get their client back to the hospital:

“The medical team and legal team are focused on getting Sara the medical treatment she desperately needs.”

Wow.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more — but, this is just an extremely terrifying example of the lengths Drumpf and his minions are willing to go to forcibly remove people from this country.
