Now that’s how you accept the highest honor in Hollywood!
Mahershala Ali may have been the frontrunner in this year’s Best Supporting Actor category at the Oscars, but you wouldn’t have thought so based on his acceptance speech!
The actor won the award for his small but powerful performance in Moonlight, and gave a humble speech about how the performance was NOT about him — but the real life characters portrayed in Barry Jenkins‘ drama.
The 43-year-old also thanked his wife Amatus Sami-Karim, who just gave birth to their first child days ago! Wow, he has a lot to celebrate!
The actor beat out Jeff Bridges in Hell or High Water, Dev Patel in Lion, Lucas Hedges in Manchester by the Sea, and Michael Shannon in Nocturnal Animals.
