UPDATE 3:46 P.M. EST: You can read the LAPD’s statement HERE.
We’re still reeling from the allegations that Danny Masterson — Hyde from That 70s Show — is being investigated for raping multiple women!
According to the shocking report, Leah Remini is helping to get to the bottom of the accusations by helping the victims — who are Scientologists like Danny — speak out.
Now we finally have a response.
The actor’s rep released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter confirming the allegations are real but vehemently denying their veracity — mostly by trying to discredit Danny’s accusers.
Ch-ch-check out the full response (below)!
*Editor’s note: We have chosen to redact the accuser’s name, which was included in the statement.
“We are aware of [Victim A]’s 16-year-old allegations. It was only after [Victim A] was in contact with Leah Remini that she made allegations of sexual assault by Mr. Masterson. The alleged incident occurred in the middle of their 6-year relationship, after which she continued to be his longtime girlfriend.”
Um, sorry, but… what the fuck does that have to do with it?
Because she kept dating him, it must not have happened??
The statement continues to go after the alleged victim’s credibility, saying:
“Significantly, during their relationship she made numerous inconsistent claims that she was previously raped by at least 3 other famous actors and musicians. When Danny ended the relationship she continued to pursue him, even making threats to beat up his current wife Bijou Phillips unless she left him. In fact, we are informed by the Church that the only demand [Victim A] made of the Church after Danny broke up with her was asking for their help to intervene so the breakup would not be permanent.”
Those are some pretty messed up accusations to hurl at your accusers. Is this going to become he said/she said??
Maybe he said/they said! The statement also confirmed what we’ve heard about the claims of another woman.
“We are also aware that approximately 14 years ago a woman referred to in the blog made allegations of sexual assault and that the LADP interviewed numerous witnesses and determined the claim had no merit.”
Finally Danny goes after Leah, implying this is all a ratings stunt. The statement finishes:
“Based on reading the anti-Scientology blog that posted this story, these false allegations appear to be motivated to boost Leah Remini’s anti-Scientology television series since [Victim A] only came forward after connecting with Leah Remini.”
The LAPD is expected to release their own statement on the investigation soon.
What do YOU think about all this, Perezcious readers??
