Son of a Beatle, this song is good!
Carrie Fisher‘s words have once again come to life in the form of Sean Ono Lennon‘s haunting new ballad.
John Lennon‘s son took to Soundcloud to share the beautiful track Bird Song, which he co-wrote with the late Star Wars icon years ago. The two were longtime friends.
In the description, the musician said he recorded the song after Fisher’s passing, and recruited “prodigal angel” Willow Smith to help out with backing vocals.
Noting the unmixed demo was only recorded in a few hours, Lennon gushed over the “marvelous” lyrics he and Fisher wrote together and reminisced about their friendship.
Ch-ch-check out Sean’s full description — and listen to the beautiful Bird Song (below)!
“Carrie and I wrote this song years ago. When she died I just felt I had to record it. This is only a demo unmixed, we only had a few hours to record it. But the lyrics she wrote with me I think are marvelous. Carrie and I used to stay up til dawn chatting and pontificating about life. They were my best moments. Anyway… we wrote a song about staying up too late and hearing the birds sing. Willow Smith is a prodigal angel and was generous enough to lend her golden voice to this little tune.”
