Casey Anthony‘s surprising interview released on Tuesday caught the attention of many… including her parents, George and Cindy Anthony.
In case you missed it, the 30-year-old broke her silence nearly nine years after the death of her daughter Caylee . It’s been six years since she was acquitted of the murder charges in court, and in her interview, Casey maintained she still wasn’t sure what happened to the two-year-old.
But it was later on Tuesday when her parents revealed they were “hurt” by their estranged daughter’s words. In a statement made by their attorney, they told People:
“After years of silence, Casey Anthony has decided to complete an interview and has once again pointed to George Anthony, her father, as a suspect in the disappearance and death of his granddaughter, Caylee.”
While Casey only briefly mentioned her father, the Associated Press piece did bring up the theory that George covered up Caylee’s death after her drowning, and how her defense attorney suggested he sexually abused Casey. He has never been charged in connection to the case.
The Anthonys’ statement continued:
“George, who has continued to try and move forward from this tragedy and who was vindicated on multiple occasions, is once again forced to relive the hints, rumors, lies and allegations that are being made by Casey Anthony. He has specifically stated that ├óΓé¼╦£his heart hurts even more now.’ “
Who knows how their daughter will react to this…
A source shared:
“This family has had struggles for a very long time, and all of them have processed it in their own way.”
But also added Casey’s parents “hope for a reconciliation someday.”
