Maddie Ziegler has some fond memories of her time on Dance Moms, but mostly she’s glad to have moved on!
The young dancer spoke to People about that particular period in her life, and it’s obvious she’s so much happier now than she’s ever been. Maddie even says so herself!
Reminiscing about the entire experience with coach Abby Lee Miller, she said:
“I learned a lot of lessons. I had the craziest time when I was with her and on that team. I’m really glad that I did move on from that, and I did learn a lot from her and we did have some fun times. But I feel like now, I’ve never been happier in my life, and I’m not stressed at all.”
The 14-year-old also revealed that she’s never actually watched a full episode of the show either:
“We lived through it, so I don’t feel like we have to watch it, and it was just so much drama that I don’t want to see it again.”
Aww! It definitely sucks that she doesn’t have better memories of that time.
Maddie readily admits there was way too much stress and pressure for someone as young as her:
“I was stressed at 11 years old, which shouldn’t happen! It was so much pressure winning a competition…That was my mindset all the time.”
She’s also totally done with competitions:
“I’m done competing. I’m so glad to move on from competing. That’s one thing I’m so happy about moving on from just ’cause it was stressful.”
“A trophy doesn’t mean anything!”
We’re so glad she’s in a better place now! No kid should have so much pressure on their shoulders.
