Joey Boots fans must finally have closure.
As we previously reported, back in December the Howard Stern Show personality shockingly passed away at the age of 49. At the time of Boots’ death, there was no explanation as to what exactly happened. However, after almost three months, a caused of death has finally been revealed.
On Monday, a spokeswoman for the New York City Medical Examiner revealed Joey died from a heroin overdose. Specifically, the rep noted that the radio personality’s passing was an accident caused by acute heroin intoxication. How sad.
Boots, whose real name was Joseph Bassolino, was best known for being a member of Stern’s Wack Pack. During his tenure on the SiriusXM show, Joey coined the catchphrase “Baba Booey.” In fact, it was Joey’s Wack Packer costar, High Pitch Erik who discovered Boots’ body in his Bronx home. Oh man.
Sadly, this is not the first member of the WP family who has passed away. Stern and co. have also had to say goodbye to Crackhead Bob, Eric the Actor, Riley Martin, and Johnny Fratto in recent years.
As always, our thoughts are with Boots’ loved ones during this trying time.
