On Thursday, it was reported that two Secret Service agents are currently under investigation for allegedly snapping selfies with Donald Trump‘s grandson — while he was fast asleep. Ugh.
Reportedly, the incident took place last weekend when the two agents were driving Donald Trump Jr.‘s second oldest, Donald Trump III from the family’s Westchester estate to Manhattan. According to Mother Jones, the eight-year-old was asleep in the car when the security experts began taking photos with him. Obviously, the little one “freaked out” when he woke up to the bizarre situation!
Once dropped off by the two agents, the young Donald informed his mother, Vanessa about what happened in the car and she, in turn, recounted the situation to her husband. Now, we in no way support the Trump family’s political views, but this was a total violation of their son’s privacy. If we were the Trumps, we’d be pissed too!
Thankfully, it’s said the matter was brought up with the higher ups at the Secret Service and that the agents have been redirected to the branch’s Office of Professional Responsibility in Washington, D.C. GOOD!
Amid all of this drama, the Secret Service released the following statement on the situation:
“The US Secret Service is aware of a matter involving two of our agents and one of our protectees. Our Office of Professional Responsibility will always thoroughly review a matter to determine the facts and to ensure proper, long-standing protocols and procedures are followed. The Secret Service would caution individuals to not jump to conclusions that may grossly mischaracterize the matter. Secret Service Agents around the country are dedicated to protecting those under their charge.”
The agency has been taking quite a bit of flak lately as, just before midnight on March 11, a man was found on the White House grounds with two cans of mace in tow. Yeesh.
Regardless, at least Trump may get to FINALLY say his famous catch phrase…
