Donald Trump LOVES to put his stamp on shit he had nothing to do with.
That self-involvement extended to Colin Kaepernick‘s current unemployment status when the president spoke at a rally on Monday night.
Trump was talking to the crowd in Louisville, Kentucky about the Republican health care overhaul and the nation’s urban communities when, out of nowhere, he swerved into a completely unrelated topic on the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, saying:
“Our inner cities will find a rebirth of hope, safety and opportunity… Your San Francisco quarterback, I’m sure nobody ever heard of him.”
Um… did his notecards get switched up, or…?
Nope! It was just good ol’ Trump, stroking his ego by citing reports that NFL owners were avoiding hiring the controversial athlete because they didn’t want to deal with the president’s Twitter tantrums. He continued:
“It was reported that NFL owners don’t want to pick him up because they don’t want to get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump. Do you believe that? I just saw that. I just saw that.”
Wow! What an arbitrary, self-serving report to site there, Donny!
We’re glad the Prez can sift through all that fake news and find something REAL, that just so happens to make him seem like the great and powerful Oz. Give us a fucking break…
As you may know, Kaepernick opted out of his contract earlier this month following a combative season, in which he drew much criticism for kneeling during the national anthem to protect police brutality.
But after hurling out a few dumb ass tweets on the subject — like everyone else on Twitter — we can totally see why Trump is taking credit for the athlete’s strife.
After all, we’re sure The Donald also credits himself for Kristen Stewart‘s breakup with Robert Pattinson, or the spike in Saturday Night Live‘s ratings this season. (Actually, he has a lot to do with that last one…)
