Looks like they learned their lesson!
After it was revealed one of the five teen heroes in Power Rangers was gay, fans in Malaysia started to get anxious. No, not because it bothered them — because their government could stop them from seeing the film!
That meant those who had already bought tickets to the box office record-breaker had to be refunded by Malaysia’s major chains, TGV Cinemas and Golden Screen Cinemas.
But this time we guess the Malaysian government decided not to cut off their nose to spite the gays. Power Rangers will open in the country on Thursday, March 23, in all its rainbow-suited glory.
What’s more, the country’s Film Appeals Committee actually reversed the BatB decision as well, so the uncut musical will now premiere on March 30. Yay for progress! Kinda…
As usual, the way to a conservative’s heart is through their wallet.
