So, Nia Long & Taraji P. Henson’s Empire Feud All Started Because Of An Ill-Timed Period Joke??

taraji nia feud over period joke

This may shed some light as to why Nia Long was allegedly a nightmare on the Empire set.

As we previously reported, Miz Long clashed with Taraji P. Henson while filming the Fox drama as the Friday actress was supposedly nasty to the show’s hair, makeup, and wardrobe people. Not to mention, it’s said the 46-year-old was habitually late for filming and even threatened to file a suit against the show for not thanking her after her last scene.

However, Nia’s people have since denied these crazzzzzy accusations. In fact, according to TMZ, the industry vet’s problems with the show all stemmed from derogatory jokes made by Taraji and one of her fellow cast members. Oooh, go on!

Reportedly, Cookie *ahem* excuse us, Taraji jokingly asked Nia if she was on her period after the Love Jones alum flipped out at one Henson’s castmates. Apparently, the NY native did NOT appreciate the joke as it sparked her feud with the Hidden Figures star for the rest of filming.

So, what EXACTLY set Nia off? Well, let us tell you…

Supposedly, Long showed up late to set not long after starting her stint on Empire. This behavior prompted one of the male actors on the show to quip:

“Damn, why are you on black people time?”

While the unnamed cast member defended that he was simply making a joke, Nia proceeded to chew him out. Taraji, who is known for being protective of Empire‘s cast and crew, tried to intervene with a joke:

“What are you, on your period? Is it that time, girlfriend?”

Now we get what the powerhouse actress was trying to do, but she knows better than to ask a woman if she’s on her period. Like, c’mon, girl!

Obviously, things got super heated and it permanently affected the relationship the actresses had on set. Although Nia can probably hold her own in a fight, we wouldn’t want to cross Taraji… EVER.
