Is this a reward or a punishment??
On Monday, it was revealed that Donald Trump plans to announce a new White House office, which will be run by none other than his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Why are we even surprised?
Apparently, POTUS will announce the White House Office of American Innovation later today (March 27). It’s said the new office will be dedicated to overhauling government functions through the use of business tools and techniques. Sounds like total B.S. to us.
Nonetheless, Kushner won’t be working alone in this new office as National Economic Council director Gary Cohn, Senior Counselor to the President Dina Powell, Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives Chris Liddell, and Assistant to the President for Intragovernmental and Technology Initiatives Reed Cordish are all reported to have some sort of involvement with the WHOAI. In a very un-Trump like move, all of these employees are well qualified for the position as they all have extensive business experience!
Although, we doubt those people (named above) will report directly to the Commander-in-Chief — a perk Ivanka Trump‘s husband has. Smh.
This announcement comes at a very inneresting time, as Trump’s administration is at an all time low following their healthcare blunder. Regardless, a senior administration official for the West Wing claims the development of this office has been in the works since shortly after Inauguration Day.
The group has already met on several occasions and have also spoken to CEOs for advice on how to change certain federal programs. Reportedly, the WHOAI hopes to tackle veterans’ affair, opioid addiction, and workforce development. Talk about a tall order!
We feel like Jared’s about to be put under quite a bit of pressure, so we’re not entirely sure this promotion is a good thing…
