Employees at an Allentown, Pennsylvania Chili’s threw a party to shame their coworker after she complained about two years of alleged sexual harassment from the restaurant’s manager.
Emily Houser (above) reported her boss after he made frequent, unsolicited attempts to date her since she started working at the chain at 16 years old.
According to BuzzFeed News, Josh Davidson showed up at Houser’s house unannounced on several occasions and showered her with money and gifts in hopes of winning her affections.
On Houser’s 18th birthday, Davidson — then 26 — showed up at her school and asked her to be his girlfriend. When she declined, his offers got even more inappropriate.
“In August, the last time he showed up to my house around 2:30 in the morning, he gave me a card with hundreds of dollars in it, to which I gave it back and kind of told him to just really back off of me, because I was so obviously not interested in him and did not want to be with him.”
After Davidson finally took the hint, the tormented teen claimed he started “being verbally and even physically weird and abusive towards me at work.”
While she brushed off the odd behavior at first, Houser noticed the boss put another “young girl” at work in his creepy crosshairs, so she decided to report her situation to prevent anyone from having to deal with the same behavior.
Houser put in her two weeks’ notice and reported the alleged harassment to corporate headquarters. Davidson wasn’t fired, but instead transferred to another restaurant location — and the rest of her coworkers weren’t happy to see him go.
The Chili’s team was SO upset, in fact, Houser said they threw a “Fuck Emily Houser” party blaming her for the boss’s transfer. Houser was shocked to find pictures from the staff shaming party on Instagram, which included a cake with a not-so-subtle message:
Really? She’s the petty one? SMH, Chili’s….
Among the employees that attended the bash was the restaurant’s general manager, who was “laughing and cutting cake with everyone.” Icing on the cake!
Houser said felt numb after seeing the pictures, especially since she considered her coworkers to be some of her best friends. She added:
“I didn’t know how to feel, except I just didn’t really feel anything. And then I just started to cry, because I came to terms with the fact that I did call these people my friends and I did love them and care about them, and I have no idea why they were doing this to me.”
Houser has not heard from any of them since the party.
