Taran Killam Reveals ‘Moron’ Donald Trump Didn’t Even Understand SNL‘s Jokes When He Hosted The Show!

Donald Trump has not been a fan of Saturday Night Live ever since Alec Baldwin donned that furry hairpiece to impersonate the cartoonish politician.

But according to Taran Killam, The Donald didn’t understand SNL‘s humor even before he was in its satirical crosshairs!

In an interview with Brooklyn magazine, the former cast member recalled the fateful night in November 2015 when Trump hosted the NBC sketch show (amid protests) months after announcing his presidential candidacy.

While it’s no secret the public was upset over the sleazy politician hosting, Killam revealed that no one behind the scenes was thrilled about it either — Trump himself included!

He remembered of the week Trump hosted:

“It was not fun, and most of the cast and writers were not excited to have him there. I didn’t get the feeling that he was excited to be there, and it felt like a move for ratings from both sides.”

A shallow ratings stunt? On network television? GASP!

The topic of Trump came up when Killam was discussing Mike Pence‘s infamous visit to Hamilton. After the reporter noted Pence wasn’t as upset about the incident as the President was, the comedian quipped:

“Well, the president is a moron… What you see is what you get with him, really. I mean, there was no big reveal.”

Killam explained that not only did Trump not get the jokes the writers came up with, he could barely read them! He added:

“He struggled to read at the table read, which did not give many of us great confidence. Didn’t get the jokes, really. He’s just a man who seems to be powered by bluster.”

We have to admit, it’s disappointing to learn Trump isn’t “in” on the joke. There was a small sliver of hope he was just playing a moronic character to win over his following.

Nope, turns out the Commander in Chief really IS a dope in dope’s clothing.
