New information is coming out regarding Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana‘s separation.
Apparently the two split up shortly after their baby son Eissa‘s birth back in January, and had been living separate lives for quite some time.
A source speaking with People said:
“They separated shortly after the baby was born. The cultural differences between her and Wissam became even more obvious [after Eissa arrived]. They come from very different worlds.”
Sounds like maybe the couple hit some speed bumps when it came to how they should raise their newborn.
The source added:
“For years, Janet tried to adapt to his culture. Since it’s not a culture she grew up with, it’s been challenging for her. She often felt she disappointed Wissam.”
However, in the months since the separation and baby’s birth, it seems like things have settled. The insider said:
“Janet is all about the baby and is okay. They will raise their boy together.”
Though that is great news, it appears the couple had already begun the process of living separately about a month ago. An eyewitness told ET:
“Janet was very rarely seen leaving the house she shared with Wissam. A team of staff seemed to tend to all of her needs.”
Apparently, “two drivers, a housekeeper, her own personal assistant, a nanny and more” helped Janet run her life, setting out on errands and bringing food back to the house for her.
The eyewitness also reported that for the past month Janet has not been seen at the residence and only Wissam has been spotted coming and going.
Wissam was most recently seen bringing back toys, children’s furniture, and balloons to the house, presumably to replace items Janet took when she left.
Janet is also believed to have gone house-hunting in February after her mother, Katherine, came to London for a two-month visit. The singer is said to have considered the super prestigious Mayfair neighborhood as an option for her new home. That would keep her pretty close to Wissam’s location in Chelsea.
This breakup sucks, but we hope they can share custody and be there for their little boy. Wishing them the best during this stressful time!
