Charlie Murphy will certainly be missed.
After numerous celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late Chappelle’s Show star, Charlie’s brother Eddie Murphy and family released a statement on the comedian’s untimely passing. We can’t even begin to imagine what they’re going through right now.
On Charlie’s death, Eddie and co. wrote:
“Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle, and friend Charlie. Charlie filled our family with love and laughter, and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”
What kind words. In case you forgot, fans and friends were left shocked on April 12 when the Black Jesus actor’s longtime manager confirmed that Murphy died following a battle with leukemia. He was only 57 years old.
We feel so badly for Eddie as he was very close to his brother. In fact, the Shrek alum once told Variety that his brother kickstarted his comedy career. The A-lister previously quipped to the publication:
“Charlie is actually my best impression. I’ve been doing him since I was two or three. He was my first impression. I wish he would get famous because people could see this great impression that I do.”
As always, our thoughts are with Charlie’s loved ones during this sad time.
