Chrissy Metz has been candid about her struggle.
Before she struck it big on This Is Us, the actress was fighting hard to get a steady gig, going on only two auditions a year, and always finding herself among “the same small group of girls.”
Now, thanks to the show, she’s in a much happier, brighter place, and is spreading her message of hope and positivity everywhere she goes.
In her latest endeavor, the 36-year-old has written a letter to her teen self for this year’s People‘s World’s Most Beautiful issue, and it’s a beautiful dose of inspiration.
“You are just as important and beautiful as Amy, the most gorgeous cheerleader in your entire school, even if your hair isn’t the perfect natural shade of honey blonde or because your clothes aren’t from Guess or that your curves look VERY different from hers. Contrary to the bill of goods you’ve been sold, life is not a competition. Stop comparing yourself to anyone or anything.”
Amen! Comparing yourself to someone else is the fastest route to unhappiness ever!
“We are all on our own journey and YOU are the driver. There will be bumps in the road, detours to be taken and pit stops will have to be made, but you’ve got to fill ├óΓé¼╦£er up and keep going. You will lose your map, but never your intuition. Allow every smile, frown and town you drive through to open your mind, but never close your heart.”
Boy, will there be bumps in the road, as Chrissy knows all too well. But she fought through and came out on top!
Finally she finished the letter with:
“One day you will appreciate the upgrade of that cruise control but never take your eye off that winding road you have paved by being courageously you!”
Her success is a big testament to that being completely, 100% true! Thank you, Chrissy!
