Kate Middleton, Prince William, & Prince Harry Open Up About Mental Health, Princess Diana, & Parenthood

Kate, William, and Harry talk mental health.

We continue to be awed by the royals’ commitment to mental health awareness!

Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry are so devoted to Heads Together, the campaign that seeks to help people have conversations around mental health and also help overcome the stigma associated with it.

In a new video, the three join together to have their own conversation about the campaign, and reveal a lot of personal information in the process.

Harry and William, for example, reveal that they’ve never properly discussed Princess Diana‘s death and how it affected them, with William saying:

“Even Harry and I over the years have not talked enough about our mother.”

Echoing that sentiment, Harry added:

“I always thought to myself what’s the point of bringing about the past, what’s the point of bringing up something that’s only going to make you sad. It ain’t gonna change it. It ain’t gonna bring her back. And when you start thinking like that, it can be really damaging.”

The brothers agree that “you have to prioritize your mental health…Because it’s very easy to run away from it. Someone has to lead and has to be brave enough to force that conversation.”

Meanwhile, Kate talks about motherhood and how difficult things were for her when George was born, saying:

“Having a child, particularly your first child is such a life-changing moment. Nothing can really prepare you for that. Remember the first few days with little George, you know you have no idea really what you’re doing. No matter how many books you read, nothing can prepare you for that.

“Those first few weeks were a steep learning curve.”
